Southern Illinois University Carbondale
REDESIGN - unimplemented
Hightlights
Notes on the old web site...
- The site in use at the time I worked at SIUC contained many required elements. It looked much like a bumper with too many stickers (jpg image). My goal in this redesign was to organize the "stickers" and allow for more to be added, as they always were, in a way that would not destroy the design.
- A major overhaul has since been undertaken that has allowed the site to be based on research of student's needs rather than on campus politics.
This redesign includes...
- XHTML standards compliance
- WCAG priority 2 accessibility
- Section 508 accessibility
- Full CSS layout
- Deliverable to portable devices
- JSP coding to
- dynamically display photo daily with caption
- to center
photos of different sizes
- handle campus emergency notifications
- Flash ticker to scroll daily headlines from RSS feed
- Scalability for "featured" links
- Graphics consistant with "family" look used across printed materials
- Maintains required elements (menus, header, headlines, photo,
featured links)
- Future features: "Students' voices" quotes, video links,
etc.
