Key Projects

Redeveloped SIUC top level web structure to update technology and “maintainability” using HTML, JSP, CSS to meet marketing needs and Section 508 accessibility laws.

Programmed database driven department and service directory for SIUC. Built JSP/Java interface on a MySQL backend. Coordinated data sources to produce directory with future campus map integration in mind.

Established a solution for 20+ departments, schools and programs for easy maintenance of professional web sites for users with limited technology skills. Developed HTML templates in for use with Contribute CMS software. Documented and trained users on the system.

Work on Unix and Linux platforms with online transactions, SSL security, Perl and PHP programming, JavaScript, graphics optimization using Fireworks, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), MySQL databases and Flash design.

Take clients through the full project development process from needs assessment, securing hosting and domain name, information architecture, navigation design, graphic design and branding, web page construction using Dreamweaver and hand-coding, application programming with PHP and Perl, search engine optimization and long term web site maintenance. Using Solaris servers, Apache configurations adjusted as needed, installed SSL for secure transactions, added Perl modules and PHP as needed for development, FTP accounts and users managed, work with users on campus to meet web site and hosting needs, developed web interface for server access log analysis on demand.

General software review and evaluation as needed, including evaluation of content management systems (CMS) and selection of Red Dot CMS for a pilot project.

Universal Accessibility expertise in federal Section 508 standards and W3C WCAG 1.0 guidelines. Evaluated and authored report on accessibility of SIUC web sites, worked with groups across campus to create and teach an accessibility seminar, created accessibility standards for I.T.

Other projects include Student Technology Fee online proposal submission (perl, PHP), Rez Net web pages (ASP, HTML), designed web-based FTP interface, developed forum for trading equipment between departmnts (MySQL, Perl and CGI on Solaris), developed LDAP directory interface (PHP against an OpenLDAP directory on Solaris)
